What Happened
On 11 April 2025, Ruby’s harness unexpectedly broke during a walk near our village in Lincolnshire.
Before we could reach her, she ran into the road and was struck by a car, becoming trapped underneath it.
Ruby survived, but suffered severe injuries.
The original veterinary assessment described a serious injury to her back left leg, friction burns to her shoulder and back, and a loss of sensation in her front right lower leg and paw.
At the time, surgery was needed for her back leg, and there were concerns that her front leg might require amputation if it did not recover.
The Care Ruby Needs
Ruby’s injuries brought significant veterinary expenses and a difficult recovery.
We started this fundraiser to help with the costs of her treatment and ongoing care, including:
- Surgery and veterinary treatment
- Medication and wound care
- Rehabilitation and recovery support

Ruby is gentle, affectionate, and full of personality.
Since we rescued her as a puppy, she has become our constant companion and a deeply loved member of our family.
Her bond with King, our other rescued German Shepherd–Malinois cross, is especially precious to us.
The team at Aldervale Vets in Ashby-by-Partney cared for Ruby during an incredibly difficult time. We are deeply grateful for their dedication and kindness.
We’re doing everything we can, but the veterinary costs are more than we can manage alone.
